About Counselling with Sascha…
Personally, counselling has been instrumental in helping me with stress, relationship issues, and feelings of overwhelm throughout my adult life. It is for this reason that I take such delight in offering counselling services to individuals and families in Narrabeen and online.
As a counsellor based in the Northern Beaches, I support adults, teenagers, and tweens experiencing anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, and other mental health challenges. Because of my lived experience, I understand how isolating it can feel when we are going through difficulties. That is why I am committed to creating a supportive space where you can explore what is happening for you, free from judgment.
Why I became a Counsellor
I was born into a big family with many siblings and was raised solely by my dad. While I had many wonderful moments during my childhood, there were times, especially as a tween and teenager, when I could have truly benefited from professional counselling support. Having professional counselling support would have been invaluable. Someone to help me feel less alone. Someone I could talk to about my emotional overwhelm. Someone to support me in processing the hard things that were causing anxiety, like the trauma of my mother leaving when I was very young. This lived experience now informs the way I show up as a counsellor, and in the world, with presence, empathy, and deep understanding.
Today, I am grateful that counselling is much more mainstream and widely recognised as beneficial compared to the 80s and 90s, when I was growing up. So many more young people and adults are prioritising their mental health now and seeking support for anxiety, trauma, and stress. They are seeing positive changes, and I think that is fabulous. That said, life also seems far more complicated than it was back then, and having the right support can be transformative.
Even though I did not receive counselling when I was younger, I firmly believe it is never too late to find healing from trauma, manage anxiety more effectively, strengthen relationships, or reduce stress. I have personally gained so much from the therapy I have done in my adult years. I truly believe timing is always right, and if now is the time you feel called to seek counselling, then now is the perfect time for you to begin or re-enter your counselling journey.
Alongside my work as a counsellor, I am also a busy wife and mother of three school-aged children. I understand how hectic life can be, and often is, and I know firsthand that having the support of a counsellor in your corner can make everything feel more manageable, improving your overall mental health and wellbeing leads to a richer, more fulfilling life.
Integrative Stress Management for Anxiety and Trauma
I am also a big believer in the mind-body connection and have been a yoga teacher for over 15 years. Naturally, I weave this body-aware expertise into my counselling practice to support nervous system regulation, particularly for clients experiencing trauma and anxiety. While most of our work together draws on talk therapy, we can also incorporate other modalities, such as kinesiology, if you are interested. Kinesiology has been incredibly effective for many of the clients I have worked with, helping them regulate their nervous systems and gain clarity. What I really love about kinesiology, (and my clients do too) is that it draws on your body’s own wisdom to find answers. And the body never lies. It is a fascinating process that can offer powerful insight into what you are experiencing and what you need to move forward.
If you are looking for a compassionate counsellor to support you with anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship issues, or other mental health concerns, I would be honoured to help you.
